Hansen Home and Pet Sitting is fully insured and bonded for the protection of your home and your pets. I became certified as a professional pet sitter through an extensive course offered by The National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS). NAPPS is the only national non-profit trade association dedicated to serving the needs of professional pet sitters. The Association aims to help the pet owning public, those interested in pet sitting, and professionals engaged in the in-home pet care industry by fulfilling its vision statement, serving as “the most respected authority in professional pet sitting.” As a member of NAPPS, I have taken a Pledge of Professional Conduct which guides me in conducting my business by the highest standards of ethical behavior. It also promotes humane interaction with animals and fellow human beings.
As you know, there are numerous benefits to using a pet sitter as opposed to leaving your pet unattended at home or risking boarding in a kennel. You can read about these benefits at NAPPS Pet Owner Toolkit. The Pet Owner Toolkit has guides on hiring a sitter, home and pet safety, questions to ask, etc. There is also a free 20 page booklet on emergency planning for pet owners.
Keep in mind that just because your dog can ‘hold it’, doesn’t mean it is comfortable for him or her. All your dog wants to do is please you and will accept bowel discomfort just to be a ‘good dog’. That’s just sad. Your cat may appear ‘aloof’, but you know that doesn’t mean he or she doesn’t prefer to have their human companions around.
Hansen Home and Pet Sitting has experience with the care of dogs, cats, amphibians, reptiles, small mammals, and birds. If you have a type of pet that I am not familiar with, I am more than willing to learn about their care through you and through my own research. If you would like to show me the particulars of your exotic pet’s care, I will do that at no cost to you. I always strive to learn as much as possible about any types of animals that I own or care for.
“Kristen sat for our house and dogs for four years. She was always dependable, flexible, and trust-worthy. She took great care of our dogs, which both required medication and/or special feeding instructions. In addition, I knew she genuinely liked our pets as she would occasionally e-mail to check on them. When we needed to leave town, we rested easy knowing Kristen was taking care of them. Now that we have moved out of State College, we only wish we could find as dependable a sitter as Kristen!”
“I highly recommend Hansen Home and Pet. We have two Great Danes, one is 5 and one is 2. Our older one is slowing down a bit with her age and prior to using the Home/Pet sitting service we boarded our dogs while we were away. They had to sleep, eat, hang out on a pad on the concrete floor. We noticed our older dog would take almost a week to recover from that.
We were so happy to find Hansen Home and Pet. Kristen gives us the piece of mind that our dogs, and our home, are being taken care of while we are gone. Kristen kept us up to date on anything she noticed so we knew the dogs were in good hands. There was no recovery time, except for maybe missing their buddy Kristen, when we got home because their routine wasn’t off. We will definitely be using Hansen Home and Pet in the future.”
“It can be quite challenging to find a competent and reliable home and pet sitter, and I am grateful to have found Hansen Home and Pet. Kristen is dependable, responsible, caring, and trustworthy. She does such a good job that when I return my cat and bird act as if I haven’t even been away! It is very comforting to know that they are in such good hands.”
“Kristen is reliable, mature, responsible and clean. I would welcome her into my home without hesitation.”
